They say with good quality ingredients, anyone can be a chef. Well, it doesn’t work quite like that, but we like to think of Mallorca as the garden of your cycling holidays, and we are the chefs who pick the right ingredients to make the perfect meal for you, and all you have to do is show up and enjoy!
But here’s a bit about us too:
ALFONSO OCHOA - FONZIE
Founder and Director
Originally from Venezuela, Fonzie spent most of his childhood doing some kind of riding, be it skateboard, rollerblades or surfboard. Fonzie left Venezuela in 2003 in search of good waves, new experiences, and to learn all that he could about this wonderful planet. That originally took him into the yachting industry, where he had the chance to sail across the Atlantic 5 times. By bike he's cycled solo around France covering 4300km in a month, completed John O'Groats to Land's End in 8 days, as well as up and down the Pyrenees a couple of times.
He knows there's no better way of travelling and getting to know a new place than at the bicycle's pace. The sense of accomplishment, the challenge, the views, the people and also the suffering; its not only about seeing new places, it's about getting to know yourself a bit better. Getting out of your comfort zone; the sweat, the heat, the breeze, getting too cold and too hot, the moments of struggle and overcoming them, laughing, time spent with friends, solitude, inspiration and just feeling alive in all senses.
Having visited South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, Fiji, Indonesia, the UK, Italy, France, the Caribbean Islands & Colorado, he settled in Mallorca in 2013, discovering that it is a place of great dynamism, with a healthy balance of city and action as well as mountains, sea and freedom. With its strong and proud culture, relaxed lifestyle and a great mix of people – Fonzie is grateful to call it home.
Mills and Honey was born from his desire to share his passion for active travel in a responsible and sustainable way. When you 1st contact Mills & Honey – it will be Fonzie you speak to.
HELENA HEMMINK
Guide, Trip Planner, and Do-it-all
Daughter of a Dutch dad and a Mallorcan mum Helena grew up in Holland and spent her holidays in Mallorca. Being raised in a small country (the same size as the State of Maryland!) with over 35.000km of cycling lanes she could basically cycle before she could walk. Cycling as a means of transport, often in the rain, wind and cold, meant she never considered cycling for fun until she moved to Mallorca.
She left the Netherlands at 18 to study in Spain and in 2012 ended up in Mallorca, and has been working in cycling tourism ever since. She joined the Mills & Honey Team in 2016. She’s organised, efficient, a competent mechanic, knows the island like the back of her hand, speaks 5 (and a ½) languages and will be a key part of making sure your holiday runs smoothly.
In 2020 she branched out from road biking to mountain biking which opened up the world of bike packing, so far she has done the ‘Camino de Santiago’, the Portuguese Coast, most of the Canary Islands and Cuba. She has also taken part in ‘Transpyr’, a 7 day event across the Pyrenees. She loves to travel and uses the off season for adventures, so this list will probably get longer each year….
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Mills & Honey believe that the more people cycle, the better the world will be. We want to make traveling by bike accessible for all. From avid, experienced to new or recreational cyclists, we have options that will suit everyone. For those who like to travel independently; they can enjoy the freedom of going Self Guided around the island (safe in the knowledge they have our support anytime if required), to groups of friends with different levels of riders who might benefit from vehicle and guide support on their tour of Mallorca, or for families giving their children their first taste of a mini adventure and the meaningful lessons of discovering a new land by bike. For us, the bike is the ideal way to really see a place, sustainable & environmentally friendly, it also gives a feeling of freedom and adventure, good for you both physically and mentally, and the perfect speed to take in the views. We believe Mallorca has the ideal mixture of terrain, routes, safety and beauty for a memorable cycling adventure holiday.
OUR BIKES
We've recently started a new partnership with a local bike rental company in our hometown of Alaró, - less miles in the van is good for us and the environment! North Wind Cycles stock and beautifully maintain, Canyon Endurance CF Road bikes with SRAM e-tap (48/35 and 10-36) or Shimano 105 DI2 (50/34 and 11-34). They also have Specialized Turbo Vado SL e-bikes, either in comfort fit flat handlebar cruising set up or modified with drop handlebars and road tyres. This is a great option to keep mixed ability groups together so that everyone can enjoy the magic of Mallorca’s roads and views regardless of fitness level or experience. We can also collaborate with other companies if you have particular requirement -feel free to contact us to find out more about the options.

Behind the scenes, away from all the fun and great cycling that you’ll get to experiences while you're in Mallorca with us, we take our job, the responsibility and trust you put in us very seriously. In addition to that we have a responsibility to our partners, other tour operators, employees, other institutions, and the island. We are very proud to meet all the legal requirements to operate as insured and bonded active tour operator and Travel Agency. Mills and Honey S.L. is registered as a limited liability company (CIF B16536856) and licensed as a fully insured and bonded Travel Agency in the Balearic Island (AVBAL/739) and Active Tour Operator (TA/13/BAL). Registration as a Travel Agency is a legal requirement in safeguarding your monies and allowing us to arrange and book combined itineraries for you as our client….. Beware of other operators who are not registered and bonded.
